The results of the gubernatorial debate watch parties are in!

Thanks to Austin Tea Party Patriots and Katy Tea Party Patriots, we collectively developed a scorecard to evaluate the candidates based on tea party principles, and asked participants to score each candidate from 0-5 on whether:

The candidate supports constitutional rights.

The candidate supports free markets.

The candidate supports decreasing taxes and spending.

The candidate upholds individuals’ rights.

The candidate supports state sovereignty.

The results were tabulated for each candidate, and for more detail, for each category by candidate.  We report the total scores below, out of a possible 5 for each candidate:

Beaumont:  Hutchison 3.54   Medina 4.18   Perry 1.76

Clute:   Hutchison .73   Medina 3.84   Perry .68

Fredricksburg:  Hutchison 1.9  Medina 4.8   Perry  2.0

Katy:  Hutchison 1.98   Medina 4.41   Perry 2.34

Kingwood:  Hutchison 2.3   Medina 4.5   Perry 2.5

Woodlands:  Hutchison 3.56   Medina 4.4   Perry 1.91

We encourage more groups to organize or attend watch parties for the next debate, and to perform the exercise all over again with a new scorecard with different questions.  Not only does it make the debate more interesting, but it paints a fascinating picture of the trends among our various groups’ membership.  While none of the results is scientific, it does provide some quick feedback.
