HTPS Harris County Straw Poll
UPDATE: The 13th is the day to meet candidates! Texans for Immigration Reform is holding a candidate forum at 10 a.m. at Tracy Gee Community Center (3599 Westcenter Dr, Houston, 77042) and then the Kingwood Tea Party Society is hosting Debra Medina at the Kingwood Town Center at 3 p.m. This will be the last weekend before early voting, so there are no excuses not to make one of these events, and then join us for the straw poll!
Houston Tea Party Society will be hosting a candidate meet-and-greet that is free and open to the general public. The straw poll vote will be critical in the upcoming election and it will give the candidates, media, and the public a chance to find out where the tea party vote is at this time. The meet-and-greet will also be a great chance for voters to learn more about the candidates and ask them direct questions about their policies and vision.

Time: 4 PM (Voting begins at 5 PM and ends at 7 PM. Results to follow.)
Location: Crown Plaza Hotel Reliant Park 8686 Kirby Dr. at 610 South
Come out and interview candidates for the positions and take part in voting in the straw poll. Voter registration cards not required, but please bring them if you have them on hand in order to save time with the voting process.
CANDIDATES: DEADLINE EXTENDED THIS WEEK, BUT SPACE IS RUNNING OUT! register with the Straw Poll for booth space at info@houstontps.org using the subject line CANDIDATE STRAW POLL for information about obtaining table space. There is an entry fee for all candidates to attend, and deadline for payment is Feb 5th.

WHICH local candidates? Tea Party? Republican? Harris county only or are we talking Republican governor candidates? I live just over Harris county line in Montgomery county and would like a chance to ask some questions of governor, US Senate, and representative candidates. thanks.
Kristy, it’s open to all candidates running on the Harris County ballot, which includes reps from statewide candidates too. And both Republican and Democrat candidates are welcome, and will be polled separately. Just like on March 2nd, participants will have to choose a party.
Is this event limited to the two party sytem or will the Libertarian Party be allowed to represent themselves as well? What are the fees for table space? Please let me know. I am running for CD-22, and had a wonderful experience at the Clear Lake Tea Party.
Steve, all candidates may purchase a table, but the straw poll will only be for the Democrat and Republican parties. We’re not tech-gifted enough to run them for all parties.

Just a note, this hotel is at 8686 Kirby Drive at 610 SOUTH. Kirby does not cross 610 West. It is the western end of the South Loop but it is still 610 South.
