Alert: GOP Ballot Issue

By Felicia Cravens

I apologize for the delay in reporting this, but this came in Saturday from Ed Hubbard:

We need to get the word out that there has been a mistake made on the ballot, and it is too late to fix it.  So, voters need to know about it.

Normally, all races come before the propositions.  However, when the GOP set up the ballot, they put the precinct chair races below the propositions.  So, unless voters are alerted to this, they may never go that far down the ballot.  Apparently, this was an error made at the time the data was imported, and the proof-reading within the party and at the County Clerk’s office never caught it.  It was incorporated into the absentee ballots, so it can’t be corrected now.

I asked the PC (Precinct Chair who caught the mistake) to contact (the party) to see how the party intends to get the message out to voters about this, and how we can help.  With early voting starting Tuesday, we can’t wait to alert the voters.

I have alerted Jennings this morning, and I asked him to get the information out, but please make an announcement about this today at the Straw Poll today.

Nothing done by the HCRP to let Harris County Voters know about the
mistake on the ballot that only affects precinct chair races.

What happened to the HCRP support the grassroots of the party… precinct chairs?

A little lip service doesn’t replace no action! All hot air and no substance passes for grassroots support in the HCRP!

  3. Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.
