One of Our Heroes – Debbie Maxey

Debbie Maxey is just amazing.  Not only did she manage to guide the sign-in activities at the Information Table at the Houston Tea Party and in the crowd, she stayed up until past 3:00 a.m. counting people who attended!  She posted this as a comment; I’m making sure it’s a post so everyone can find it easily.  Debbie, you’re just amazing!  Houston Tea Party Society members rock, and here’s more proof:

Hello Tea Partiers!

I just finished counting each and every one myself and according to the sign-in sheets, the total number of people who attended the 2009 Houston Tax Day Tea Party is 8532!

We know some did not want to sign anything therefore the total is probably closer to 10,000.

This is about double the 5000 we anticipated. What a Tea Party!

Of the 8532 included in the sign-in sheets, 389 attendees checked the “volunteer” column indicating they want to work for the cause! So many of them were really “pumped”.

The Welcome Group collected a total of:

248 Single-sided sign-in sheets

31 Double-sided sign-in sheets

139 Sign-in cards

We used every piece of paper we could find!

I want to thank all the members of The Welcome Group who did such a tremendous job today.  I really appreciate those who helped gather all the sign-in sheets, kept them in order and got them all to me in a timely manner. I think we got a really accurate count which was our objective. Well done!

And I want to especially thank Karalee and everyone who worked ALL AFTERNOON at the west side sign-in table where I was stationed. One of them was a myspace friend, Borilla. And the other two were ladies (I’m so tired I can’t remember their names right now) who came in and volunteered on the spot.  We were so busy and didn’t have much help, so I put them to work. ALL of them stayed and worked all day without a break!  Of the 8532 total attendees, they signed-in 2730 of them at our table. What troupers! Thank  you so much!

It’s 3 am and I’m going to bed.

It sure was a great day!

God Bless America, Again!

Many folks came after the sign-up sheets were taken down. We weren’t able to get there until 6:45, and there were people coming in after we did. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Last night was unbelievable. I attended the TEAParty in front of Sugar Land Town Hall and there were at least 1000 people there, not as many as downtown but still a strong showing of support. I am proud to be an American and a Houstonian.

I wasn’t able to attend any of the Tea Parties but to show my support, I hung tea bags on my mailbox, wore my RW&B shirt, put out my American Flag, and hung a sign saying, “Proud To Be An American”. People like Debbie Maxey and all the United States Citizens who put this event together, just reminds me that there are still good people out there who are willing to fight for what’s right! WE THE PEOPLE…….

Congratulations to all of you who were responsible in organizing and putting on the rally. I was honored and proud to have been in attendance. It reaffirmed my faith in the will of the American people and that we have had enough and are willing to stand up for our rights.

    Job well done!!!

Okay, we need a press release sent.

Everybody needs to understand the significance of average citizen volunteers managing to get 8500+ people pouring in to sign something is an achievement of epic proportions.

Hats off to the volunteers responsible for this vital task. They should be very proud.

David, we’re on it – but we’re trying to include all the other area Tea Party events too, so check in, organizers from Clear Lake, Conroe, Katy, Pearland, anywhere that had a tea party!

If you aren’t an organizer of a Tea Party, try to put us in touch with one today!

Sign-in sheets? LOL, no way we could get to them, but 10,000 sounds like a VERY reasonable and possibly conservative guesstimate. Thank you to the organizers and volunteers. It was an amazing effort and I’m more than ready for the next event and willing to help if at all possible.

I would personally love to see more national attention given to upholding the Tenth Amendment (upholding the Constitution at all in Washington, District of Corruption would be a refreshing change).

Not sure whether to laugh or cry, but it’s blatently clear that the mainstream media is in denial and very intent on promoting personal agenda rather than honoring journalistic responsibility. I just pulled up Chron.com and the Tea Party isn’t amonth the headlines; in fact, there is not ONE mention! Nowadays the MSM pinheads apparently believe that the American people, the American workers, the American taxpayers not only will roll over and take anything, but that we’re de-fanged and toothless, but we’re NOT! The remarkably brilliant framers of the Constitution ensured that would never happend. SO, BARE YOUR TEETH AND ROAR, “TENTH AMENDMENT! STATE’S RIGHTS! HRC 50!”

I’m so glad I went! Thanks to all the volunteers and organizers. I’m no judge of crowd size, but I knew that there were lots of people there! Over 8000! Sweet!

The media will have to be shown the way. Our elected representatives will have to be shown the door.

    Hey everyone,

I would like to start by thanking Felicia for all her hard work she did in organizing the tea party downtown. My father was down here from Connecticut so we got to experience the beginning of this movement together.

I am hoping to spread the word and gain support for a new rally on May 2nd at 11AM at Houston City Town Hall.

The rally is to end the sanctuary city status for illegal aliens Houston has acquired (without the input of it’s citizens) and hold our local gov accountable.

I am a rookie Houston Police Officer. I am already tired of seeing my fellow officers and citizens be victimized by MS-13, SW Cholos, Houstone and other gangs whose members are mostly illegal aliens.

We can win with this battle together, but we need to turnout just like we are doing against the politicians who have hijacked our government and our country.

Free feel to comment back if you have any questions. I will check this forum often.

    Matt
